From the Vault: 1998 Capitol Hill Shooting

A man was shot by U.S. Capitol Police Monday after he aimed a gun at police while going through security screening in the Capitol Visitor Center. One bystander was injured in the shooting. This is not the first shooting at the Capitol. In July 1998 a gunman killed two Capitol Police officers in the deadliest shooting incident at the Capitol.
