Calling all  photographers, sightseers, and enthusiasts of the iconically American. Join the Iconic America<\/em> Photo Challenge and showcase your talent in capturing the essence of our nation’s most cherished icons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether it’s the awe-inspiring landmarks featured in the David Rubenstein series or the hidden gems in your own backyard, we want to see your best shots! Share your photos using the hashtag #IconicPhotoChallenge and join us in celebrating the rich tapestry of American culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the iconic Statue of Liberty to baseball fields, from historic landmarks to local treasures, this contest is all about documenting what makes America truly remarkable. Let your photography skills shine and tell your story through images that showcase the spirit of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants may have their photos featured on the Iconic America<\/em> website. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of history and leave your mark on the visual legacy of our nation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photo Challenge Guidelines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Through the Lens: Iconic America Photo Challenge<\/em> is an amateur competition that celebrates history, icons and symbols through photography. This photo challenge is a celebration of the rich tapestry of American heritage, where every participant has the opportunity to showcase their creative vision and storytelling skills through captivating photographs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage all aspiring photographers, history buffs, and art enthusiasts to embark on a visual journey, exploring the iconic landmarks, cultural symbols, and significant moments that define America’s legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Can Enter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This is open to all. Simply include the tags #IconicPhotoChallenge<\/em> and #IconicAmericaPBS<\/em> on your social media posts on Instagram and Twitter so we can feature your photos on our website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Categories<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We are featuring two categories for this competition:
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National icons<\/strong>: Whether it\u2019s the grandeur of the Statue of Liberty or the beauty of an eagle soaring, share the national icons that were featured in the series Iconic America. Consider sharing photos of the national icons featured in the Iconic America series, which include the following subjects:
o The American Bald Eagle
o The Cowboy
o Fenway Park
o The Gadsden Flag
o The Golden Gate Bridge
o The Hollywood Sign
o The Statue of Liberty
o Stone Mountain<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Local icons<\/strong>: Would you rather turn the lens on your local hometown? Step into the spotlight and showcase the extraordinary beauty and significance of your local icons through the lens of your camera and share those online!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Timeframe<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

To kick off the last four episodes of Iconic America<\/em>, we are kicking off the Through the Lens: Iconic America Photo Challenge <\/em>on the 4th of July through October 1, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showcased Photos<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The selected photographs will not only receive well-deserved recognition but also have the opportunity to be showcased on the website. Selected photographers will receive a copy of David Rubenstein\u2019s book \u201cThe American Experiment: Dialogues on a Dream\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guidelines and Best Practices<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Content Guidelines<\/strong>: Participants must adhere to community standards and Instagram’s (or other social media platforms) terms of service. Entries containing nudity, sexually explicit content, or any form of lewd imagery will not be accepted. Keep the challenge family-friendly and respectful.
Respectful Imagery: Photos should not depict or promote violence, discrimination, hate speech, or any content that may be offensive, discriminatory, or harmful towards individuals or groups.
Original Work<\/strong>: All submitted photos must be the original work of the participants. Do not use stock images or images taken by others.
Appropriate Subjects<\/strong>: Participants should refrain from photographing children without proper consent from their parents or legal guardians. If photographing children, ensure it is done in a responsible and ethical manner, with appropriate permissions obtained.
Get creative and think outside the box <\/strong>when documenting the icons in your photos! Experiment with different techniques, and showcase your unique perspective.
Hashtag Use<\/strong>: In order to be considered for the challenge, participants must include the designated challenge hashtag in the caption of their entry. Multiple entries are allowed, but each entry should be unique and meet all challenge requirements. Use the hashtags: #IconicPhotoChallenge #IconicAmericaPBS<\/p>\n\n\n\n
