  Robin Williams

Robin WilliamsRobin Williams is one of the most abundantly gifted and talented actors of our time, internationally recognized for his many film roles as compelling and compassionate characters.

Having received three Oscar nominations in the Best Actor category, he brought humor and understanding to the tragedy and confusion of the Vietnam War as deejay Adrian Cronauer in Good Morning Vietnam.

As Professor John Keating, teaching in an academy of cheerless conformity in Dead Poets Society, Williams cultivated an idea in his button-down students to live life to the fullest with the words, "Carpe diem, lads! Seize the day!"

Williams created an entirely new personification of a tortured spirit as Parry, who brings atonement to the self-loathing shock-jock radio star Jack Lucas in The Fisher King.

In 1998, Williams received the Academy Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his portrayal of Sean Maguire, the no-nonsense blue-collar voice of reason to Matt Damon's confused prodigy in Good Will Hunting.

These are a few of the many highly acclaimed roles Williams has played, characters that enforce the positive presence of the human spirit as an educator or a doctor, a healer of the mind or body. Off screen, Williams has a long history of involvement with several humanitarian organizations. Best known for his collaboration with Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg, their efforts with Comic Relief have to date raised over 40 million dollars for the homeless.

With his wife, Marsha Garces Williams, he established the Windfall Foundation, a philanthropic endeavor participating in international organizations such as Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), national organizations like The Pediatric Aids Association and Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as the local charities Project Open Hand, University of California at San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital Pediatrics. Williams' very personal individual efforts include his own participation as triathlon team member with athletes with disabilities.
