Late July, 1950: U.S. and South Korean forces quickly lose ground to the better-equipped North Korean Army, which within 30 days has pushed more than 230 miles south of the 38th Parallel. AP correspondent Tom Lambert and Peter Kalischer of the United Press are expelled from Korea after reporting on poor morale and lack of equipment. MacArthur later lifts the ban, but "urged" the journalists to remember that "you have an important responsibility in the matter of psychological warfare."
