4) Make sure the small coil is not near to a metal surface or box. It needs to be fixed securely onto a non-conducting surface such as the inside wall of a plastic food storage box.

5) Check the tuning capacitor connections. This will most likely have three wires coming out of it. Make sure to connect the middle wire to connection b on the circuit board, (which eventually connects to the battery). Then connect both the other two wires together and connect to the capacitor on the circuit board - connection a (see diagrams).

6) Good luck! - there are a great deal of connections and possible places where the wiring can go wrong in such a circuit. Be patient and meticulous and it will work!
