ResistorsResistors, the most common electrical components, are small two-wire devices about 1cm in length and a few mm in diameter. It does not matter which way they are connected. A resistor's job is to reduce the flow of electricity and the extent to which it does this is dependent on the 'value' - the resistance - of the resistor. The resistor values are measured in ohms. The value of the resistor is printed in code on the case of the component in the form of a series of colored bands. There are usually four bands (although some have five). The first three give the value and the last band gives the tolerance (accuracy). We don't need to worry about this last band. The component listing shows you the color codes for the resistors used in the metal detector. Component Listing resistor = 3 band (4 band) code |
