WASHINGTON WEEK

Airs Friday, March 11, 2022 at 8PM on PBS (check local listings)

On this week’s Washington Week, we will discuss Russia’s invasion of Ukraine taking a horrific turn.

As Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military intensifies attacks on Ukrainian civilians, including a rocket attack on a maternity hospital in Mariupol, calls are increasing for America and NATO to do more.

And Vice President Kamala Harris is in Poland today, after Washington rejected Warsaw’s offer to supply fighter jets to Ukraine. Meanwhile, in the highest-level meeting between the two countries since the war began, the Ukrainian and Russian Foreign Ministers ended their talks without an agreement.

Plus, the war in Ukraine is sending already soaring gas prices and inflation to new highs.

Joining moderator Yamiche Alcindor to discuss this and more:

  • Sahil Kapur, Senior National Political Reporter for NBC News
  • MJ Lee, White House Correspondent for CNN
  • Nick Schifrin, Foreign Affairs and Defense Correspondent for PBS NewsHour

And on this week’s Washington Week Extra, Yamiche and her panel discuss this week’s domestic news, including the passage of the $1.5 trillion omnibus spending bill.

Major funding for “Washington Week” is provided by Consumer Cellular, the estate of Arnold Adams, the Yuen Foundation, Sandra and Carl DeLay-Magnuson, Rose Hirschel and Andy Shreeves, Robert and Susan Rosenbaum, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and PBS.
