The presidential election is 19 days away.

President Trump returned to the campaign trail this week, just over 10 days after being diagnosed with COVID-19. He held multiple large events that largely ignored best practices for stopping the spread of the pandemic which has upended life in America and the world since March.

On Capitol Hill, confirmation hearings rolled forward toward Republicans’ goal of filling late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat before the election as Democrats tried to delay the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett. The Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled its vote on Barrett’s nomination for October 22.

The second presidential debate was scheduled for tonight, but instead the candidates are holding competing town halls. And, as the clock winds down, early voting surges.
