This Week on Washington Week: Russia-Ukraine Tensions and Domestic Risks
WASHINGTON WEEK
Airs Friday, February 18, 2022 at 8PM on PBS (check local listings)
The main focus of this Friday's broadcast will be the escalating situation along the border of Ukraine and Russia. Russian President Putin indicated troops were pulling back but that doesn't square with reports from the Biden administration that thousands of more troops have been put in place in recent days. On his way to Ohio on Thursday President Biden had this to say on the state of play: “Every indication we have is they're prepared to go into Ukraine to attack Ukraine... My sense is that it will happen within the next several days."
And on Thursday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was at the U.N. while Vice President Kamala Harris headed to the Munich Security Conference.
Washington Week moderator Yamiche Alcindor will discuss this and more with:
- Dan Balz, Chief Correspondent for The Washington Post
- Francesca Chambers, Senior White House Correspondent for McClatchy
- David Sanger, White House and National Security Reporter for The New York Times
- Barbara Starr, Pentagon Correspondent for CNN
The conversation continues on the Washington Week Extra, streaming live on YouTube at 8:30/7:30c
