- Commanding Heights Online has won the BAFTA, Great Britain's most prestigious media award, from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. It was judged the best achievement in Online Education for 2002.
The award citation reads:
"This site takes a blue chip TV series and uses broadband to push forward
the boundaries of programme extension. Every element from the original
series is available, but fascinatingly accessible in ways that can only be
achieved online. The content, navigation and design are impeccable. The
potential dry subject of globalisation is brought powerfully to life, and
the learning journeys are directly under the user's control. This is a
milestone in the development of broadband content."
- One of eight broadband sites in Time Magazine's Top 50 Websites of 2003
- Nominee for two 2003 Webby Awards from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, (Best Practices and Best Broadband Site)
- I.D. Magazine's 2003 Interactive Media Design Review; Bronze Winner
