Episode 6 Journal

What did you think of today's challenge?

I really enjoyed the challenge today. Being exposed to all the information and varieties of wines was very nice.

What did you prepare today?

Prawn ceviche topped with caviar and a dollop of crème fraiche. Seared foie gras with orange marmalade with toasted baguette. Poached pear in a vanilla-spiced syrup.

How do you think you did? Is there anything you wish you'd done better?

Wish I had more time to explain my wine parings with my dishes.

What was the highlight of the day's events?

Winning the Laguiole wine opener and having the girls be on top again. Plus I was extremely clean so I was proud that I took the judges' criticism and put it to good use.

Are there any lessons you took away from today?

Exploration and interpretation of information is key.

What was the most constructive or interesting piece of feedback you heard from the judges?

Should have marinated the prawns with more acid.

How do you think you are doing in relation to your fellow competitors?

I feel I am doing well, but I don't want to let the two previous wins get to my head. I will remain focused.

Who do you think is faring the best and why (we recognize this changes from day-to-day)?

The women are doing quite well and I hope that we continue to challenge the boys and prove to them that women do have a place in the kitchen.

What do you think your fellow competitors think of you (we recognize this changes from day-to-day)?

I am not here for fun. I am on business and plan on keeping it that way.
