The teachers whose views are summarized in this survey used four different approaches in dealing with the conflict between their beliefs about religion and their beliefs about evolution. They fell into the categories of being unaware of, avoiding, being disturbed by, or managing the conflict. Reconciling religious and scientific ways of knowing is highly personal, and the authors conclude that teachers must not to assume that their personal approach will also work for their students. |
