What Is Unforgotten Season 6 About?
Unforgotten follows veteran London detectives who unravel the hidden truths behind tangled, complicated murders from the past. Season 6 opens with a chilling discovery: partial human remains surface in a marsh and the forensic pathologist concludes that the body was placed there already dismembered. Who is capable of committing such a grisly murder and what else might the killer be concealing?
As the layered investigation unfolds, viewers meet a seemingly unrelated cast of characters: an outspoken television commentator; an autistic man living with his mother; an Afghan refugee studying for UK citizenship; and a university faculty head. They are all intricately connected by past relationships with the victim. It’s up to Jess, Sunny, and their relentless team to identify the links between the suspects and crack the case wide open.

Who’s in the Cast of Unforgotten Season 6?
Unforgotten returns for its highly anticipated sixth season with familiar faces back on the case. Sanjeev Bhaskar (Yesterday) reprises his role as DI Sunny Khan, alongside Sinéad Keenan (Little Boy Blue, Doctor Who) as DCI Jess James. Backing them up are returning cast: Georgia Mackenzie (Midsomer Murders) as pathologist Dr. Leanne Balcombe, Jordan Long (Prime Suspect: Tennison) as DS Murray Boulting, Carolina Main (Grantchester) as DC Fran Lingley, and Pippa Nixon (MotherFatherSon) as DC Kaz Willets.
New to the cast this season are Jan Francis, Damien Moloney, Michele Dotrice, Victoria Hamilton, and MyAnna Buring, alongside rising talents Maximilian Fairley and Elham Ehsas.

The Cast Discusses Unforgotten Season 6
Detectives Sunny Khan and Jess James were off to a rocky start in Unforgotten Season 5, and the new season opens an opportunity to further develop their working relationship — and maybe even begin to forge a friendship. “They’ve built a degree of trust with each other, which allows them to become better partners,” says Sanjeev Bhaskar.
The emotional depth and intricate storytelling at the heart of Unforgotten are what keep fans coming back for more. “[Empathy is] what makes the show stand out, certainly for me … There’s empathy across the board. For the investigators, and empathy for the victims, but also empathy for the perpetrators,” says Bhaskar.
“Nothing is black and white in his [writer Chris Lang’s] scripts and his characters are never black and white – we all live in brilliant shades of grey,” adds Sinéad Keenan.
And for superfans wondering about the contents of Sunny’s infamous backpack in Unforgotten Season 6, Bhaskar has the inside scoop: “We had a new costume team, and they dutifully followed the tradition of filling [my] backpack with strange and weird stuff that I took pictures of. And as the series goes out, I will again be posting those.”
