- So I'm from the North of Scotland, and it's beautiful up there.
I remember reading "All Creatures Great and Small," and the Yorkshire Dales are described so beautifully, so I thought, "Oh yeah, I mean, this sounds great, "and I'm sure it'll be lovely, "but it's quite nice where I'm from, as well.
"I'm sure it'll be that much better."
So then I got on the train, I think it was from Carlisle to Skipton, and then I was just blown away completely on that train journey.
(plucky orchestral music) - It is truly something else in all lights and in all weathers.
- The Dales are just magical.
They're beautiful in the rain and the sun.
- [James] I didn't expect it to be so beautiful.
- It's a fearsome place in winter, I tell you.
- Marvelous.
- Oh, you won't be saying that when the snow's eight foot deep.
- I'll be sure to keep a shovel with me.
(Siegfried laughs) - We see quite a lot of fog, and occasionally, the sun comes out and you can see for miles, and it's literally breathtaking.
- We shot from the autumn through to the winter and, in all seasons, it's stunning.
- Lovely view.
- [Helen] Isn't it?
- Just looks like a painting, it really does.
You got these rolling dales, sheep scattered around, these rock-built walls strewn across, and then you'll get the odd tree silhouette on the top, of the peak of a dale, and then nothing else, just this solo tree.
But it just looked like a painting.
It was absolutely stunning.
There's actually so much to do here.
I mean, just in Skipton, there's at least 21 pups.
It's been very fun trying to work our way around those, but also in all these neighboring places, there's some amazing walking trails.
It's been really lovely and I mean, there's nothing like a proper Yorkshire Sunday dinner.
