- The animals are the easy part, it's the people cause all the bother.

- [Dr Farnon] You were lucky.

- Has anyone told you how insufferable you are?

- Better get used to it.

- Any local beauty's taken your fancy?

- 'Morning, James.

(chuckling) - Could I see you sometime?

- [Hugh] This is where you're hiding.

- [Mrs Hall] Congratulations.

- You passed?

- He's going to kill me.

I didn't try to fail.

- You didn't try very hard to pass either.

- The only way we'll survive my brother is if we stick together.

- [Dr Farnon] Herriot's the best assistant I've ever had.

- [Tristan] Well done, old chap.

- I'm promoting you to senior vet.

I'm proud of you.

- Hugh asked me today.

We're getting married.

- Something inside said I should be here.

- Oh James.

- [James] There's no reason for you to keep punishing yourself for anything.

What earth were you thinking?

- I thought we might be able to salvage something that approximates to a relationship.

- [Gerald] In the rush, I didn't catch your name.

- Last night, for the first time in a long time that I felt like myself again and I was only there because of you.

- When you gonna stop this nonsense and get wed?

- Where would we live?

- Here, of course.

- I want to spend the rest of my life with you.

- You're a credit to your profession, lad.

- [Maggie] You need to find out who you are.

- [Mrs Hall] I loved Miles, but it is what it is now.

- You said war damaged dad, what if it damages me?

- I've always seen the good in you.

- He's a good man who cares for you, doesn't need to be complicated.

- [PM Chamberlain] This country is at war with Germany.

- I've always looked up to you, I have to go.

I'm so damn proud of you.

- I just know I can never forgive myself if I did nothing.

It's one of the reasons I love you and why I know you'll make a wonderful father one day.

- [James] Copy, dear.

- James should get his papers any day.

Are we mad?

- Life carries on, just as it should.

- Your instinct is absolutely right.

We might be getting our little James a bit sooner than expected.

- Couldn't have been better if I planned it.

- You need someone, especially without your brother to help.

- [Dr Farnon] Mr. Carmody, I presume.

- It's a pleasure, sir.

- [Mrs Hall] When are you due?

- December time.

- This calls for a toast.

To knowledge, fleas and our growing family.

- I'm getting a divorce.

If this war has taught us anything, it's to cherish every moment.

I don't want to lose you, Gerald, I'm going with you.

- I don't think I'm ready to go.

- Oh Audrey.

- [James] They're transferring me to start bomber training.

- I think it's started.

- We're right here with you.

- [James] Helen!

- [Helen] James?

- Oh God, I've missed you.

No matter what is or isn't, I promise you, I will be back to visit.
