(upbeat music) - I have loved filming in Amsterdam.
I only came to Amsterdam once before as a young man, as an adult now I learnt to see what a beautiful city it was.
- It's incredibly inspiring to be surrounded by canals, by waters everywhere.
- (Man) Amsterdam is thematically just the perfect metaphor for the show.
- It's unusual and complex and layered, and it was just a very intriguing setting for this to take place.
- You peel back the layers or go behind the curtain and it's not as simple as it seems, and I think that's just very important for the show that what's behind the surface of every character and every location, every person.
- I had a week in Amsterdam, and I didn't get to see much of it because we were working all the time, but a lot of cyclists.
- However much you tried to control the traffic, you can't stop the bikes.
They get around barriers.
They get around people they're kind of, I described them as being like mosquitoes.
- The thing with Amsterdam is the bicycles, when they kept saying really loud, don't forget the bicycles, make sure you're aware of bicycles, look around when you cross the street, there is the bicycles.
I live in Paris, there is bicycles, but it's fine I mean, but when I start walking in the streets of Amsterdam, I realized they don't care about the pedestrians crossing.
It's very dangerous you see one, but you don't see the other one coming there and then you turn and say, oh, there was another one it's like, you are always looking at bicycles are coming from everywhere.
- The strange thing about filming things is that your experience of filming, however dark the story or experience of filming it is mostly to do with the crew and the experience and where you are.
And even those stories, very unhappy.
The experience of making it has been a delight.
