(ominous music) - [Baptiste] Most of my life I've looked for people who've gone missing.
Perhaps trying to find their soul is a stretch too far.
(ominous music) - "Baptiste" is the continuing story of Julien Baptiste, who is the detective from the two series of "The Missing."
It takes us on what we think is going to be another missing person case, but very quickly becomes something much darker and more exciting.
(suspenseful music) - Julien had a tumor, and went through a heavy surgery.
The big challenge for him is to get back into his life as a detective.
He needs to know if he is still able to do it.
- Who are you?
- I'm someone who can help find who you are looking for.
- Edward Stratton, when we meet him in episode one, is a desperate man.
His niece, who - (hand bangs on window) - [Edward] Have you seen her?
- is a prostitute in the red light district in Amsterdam, has gone missing.
He is trying to find her, and he is in a state of extreme distress.
He needs Julien Baptiste's help, but he also doesn't tell Julien Baptiste entirely the truth.
- You're full of surprises aren't you, Edward?
- [Edward] Tip of the iceberg, Sir.
- Julien realizes that there are a lot of shadows, there are some secrets that he would have to deal with.
(suspenseful music) - When we wrote the first "Missing," the show didn't start with: let's start with a missing child story, it started with the character of Julien Baptiste.
Doing this was us going back to what we wanted to write about in the first place.
- Down!
(gun shots) (woman screams) (car accelerates) - Although it has all the elements of a detective show, it really goes beyond that, very, very quickly.
- It's a great, great journey to play.
(car accelerates) - I know when you're scared.
(bangs on door) - It's not just a police drama, it's way bigger than that.
Lots of plot twists.
(head slams on table) (suspenseful music)
