Meet the Characters
Season 1
short | 02:34 | CC
Tchéky Karyo, Tom Hollander, Barbara Sarafian and more introduce their characters in their own words.
- My name is Tcheky Karyo, I play as Julien Baptiste in The Missing spin off called "Baptiste."
My character Julien had a tumor and he went through a heavy surgery.
He's alive, he's happy.
Happy to take care of his family, to spend time with his wife.
When he meets him, this man, Edward has a lot of pain.
Eventually he feels there is something wrong.
- Edward Stratton when we meet him in episode one is a desperate man, he is in a state of extreme distress.
Baptiste spends quite a lot of time in the show trying to work out exactly who Edward is.
Ultimately Edward's Stratton is on his own.
The character is a very isolated, lonely figure.
- I've got no one else with your experience.
- [Baptiste] I'm not the man I was Martha.
- [Martha] At least let me tell you some more about the case.
- Martha has some issues but she's got a very high level job.
She's chief police and she's and she's seen as short-minded, intelligent and she knows what she's doing.
No prints, no DNA, nothing.
She had a relationship with Julien a long time ago, they were partners, also on the job, but it didn't work out.
I loved you, and I wasn't enough for you.
Niels is Martha's son, and she's extremely worried about him, of course, every mother has that and she tells him but he's not very open to that.
(speaking foreign language) - Niels is a young, ambitious police officer.
He has had his struggles in life, he has been diagnosed with testicular cancer a couple of years back, and his father passed away; so his manly hood is definitely an issue.
He wants to prove not only to his mother but also to Julien Baptiste that he can do it, that he's man enough to do what he's supposed to do.
You don't have to be here you know?
- Genevieve is an officer at Europol.
She's quite blunt and tactless, and rubs people the wrong way.
Busy night, screwing everything up?
When she first comes into the series, but she's incredibly focused and determined and that makes her not really care about how she treats everyone else.
Help me and then at least you get something.
- There are a lot of characters.
You get to know them in depth.
- I wish I didn't have this feeling that everything isn't as quite as it seems.
- It's thrilling.
