New Season, New Look
Season 6
short | 02:48 | CC
The cast and crew on Endeavour's new mustache, the '60s inspired vibrant costumes, and the harder-edged new station set.
- You don't look like you.
- The mustache has been quite an adjustment.
- [Sean] I've got ever so slight sideburns, but I really had to fight for those.
- Well, it's obvious that he's hiding, perhaps.
Maybe it's an attempt to get with the times.
- It's good though, I like it actually.
I like it now, growing quit attached to it.
- So this is what we start the series with Endeavour wearing this year.
This is sergeant stripes on the shoulders.
He does go back into a suit, which I'm sure everyone will recognize.
- Morse, good heavens.
- I've designed a new suit for him.
- Thanks very much.
Always blue.
- We've widened lapels a little bit.
I've put double vents in the back.
We're moving into the time of the drip-dry suit.
- Where's Inspector Thursday?
- [Molly] Thursday's silhouette is very old fashioned.
- Hello.
- [Caroline] Win's outfits have progressed with Win's personality.
- Don't wait up.
- And she's moved from the twin satin tweed skirts to some lovely, lovely vibrant outfits, which you wouldn't have seen her in five years ago.
- [Molly] Just to distance her from Fred even more, we've had a bit of a style overhaul with Joan and we did this Annie Hall-inspired look, and I found this gorgeous two-piece.
She's just got a seriousness about her.
She's finding her feet, she's got a lot more confidence, she's very sassy towards Morse as well this series, which is quite fun to see.
- So.
- [Molly] One of the other things that we decided to do this series was to open Dorothea up with these really gorgeous pushing-on-seventies collars, lots of gorgeous coats.
- Hello, (mumbles).
And the costume, by Molly, which is fantastic, he's sporting his own style.
- This very seventies, kind of the Sweeney kind of look, with the sideys, and the waves and the curls.
- Beautifully-made double-breasted suit.
He matches it with polo-necks, or polo shirts, a sports-cas kind of look, for someone who doesn't play by the rules.
- We had it lined, and what was really nice is a specific scene where he's chasing some blaggers, and his coat's undone and you can really see it.
- We're a bit cool, though it does feel like a newer wave comes in.
My ties are so nice that I actually, I think gonna get into buyin' some ties.
- It's the same with the set, it's to break from the old, it's to break from the traditional.
We're in this kind of, brutalist, late-sixties building now, it is the police station, it's got a harder edge to it, and that's what Box really is, he's bringing a harder edge to it.
- It's not cozy, is it?
Bloody carpet tiles.
What's wrong with liner?
It's wonderfully accurate as to the time, as to what these kind of public buildings were like.
- Blows me away just the level of detail, and as an actor, obviously, it's incredibly helpful.
- We do miss the old one.
Comfortable, cozy, smoke-filled office, and the lovely old desks, and the lovely doors, and all these kind of things.
It'll take some getting used to.
I can't do these things, can you do these things?
