Dangerous Love
Season 7
short | 02:56 | CC
"Sparks fly as soon as they meet." Shaun Evans and Stephanie Leonidas break down the romance between Violetta and Morse.
- [Evans] A new decade, new beginning.
He meets someone who's nothing like he's seen before.
She's exotic.
There's something very operatic and unattainable about her.
There's just something incredibly intoxicating about it though.
- Sparks fly as soon as they meet.
It's just, it's so intense.
These two are passionate right from the very, very beginning.
He brings out the best in her.
- But it's not real.
- Michelangelo's "David" isn't David.
(Violetta speaks in foreign language) If it's beautiful, does it matter?
She's a character that plays her cards very close to her chest.
She's quite a dark horse.
Very put together, very composed woman.
She knows what she's doing.
She's really clever.
- [Evans] So then the other new character that we introduced this year is a guy called Ludo.
- Music is my life, my grand passion.
- [Evans] Again, that's from a completely different world that brings with it something interesting and exciting.
Endeavour and I share a love of high culture, of the opera, and of fine wine.
You have the Callaway 54 Triviata from "La Scala"?
- So he's kind of providing the conversation and the company that he's perhaps not getting at work, you know.
So he's maybe found a true friend, which I don't think we've seen before.
Well, you can have it.
- You are joking, I can have it.
Do you know how rare that is?
- To me, when I read the script, is exactly how I saw Ludo.
Sort of elegant, beautiful, but something odd.
- Come and meet my wife.
- [Evans] It turns out she's married to one of his best mates.
And so that brings with it a lot of psychological hand-wringing.
- I left messages at your work before we went away.
Come for supper tomorrow.
- [Morse] Whilst he still falls for her in a really big way, you see that she comes with a lot of baggage and complications.
(gun fires) Do you think about your friends or are you selfish for once?
Is there any future happiness here?
I think the most important is while he goes against his own moral code, is that he hasn't really behaved well over the course of this year.
- Would you forgive me if I did something bad?
- [Leonidas] You constantly get these scenes between them both where she wants to reveal everything to him.
And she tries so hard.
She gives him little bits of information.
She pushes the boundaries to see how far she can go with it and what she can tell.
I don't want to confess.
But she constantly holds back.
I just want to know that you'd forgive me.
- She's not an out and out deceiver.
She's somebody who wants to believe in the truth of the moment.
So I think when she's with Endeavour, she wants to believe she can deserve that kind of a love.
- But by the end of it realized, I think, that he's not actually the person that he has proclaimed to be.
- [Saxon] And is he going to find new strengths in himself?
Is it going to propel him on to being a better detective or is he beginning to lose his way?
And we find him very much at a pivotal point in his career and his life.
