Season 7

"A new decade, a new beginning." Shaun Evans, Roger Allam, Caroline O'Neill and more preview what's to come for their characters in Season 7.
(smooth music) - A new decade, a new beginning.
He meets someone who's nothing like he's seen before.
She's exotic.
There's something very operatic and unattainable about her.
- Sparks fly as soon as they meet, this just is so intense, these two are passionate right from the very beginning.
- [Shaun Evans] So then we created a new character that we introduced this year is a guy called Ludo.
- You enjoyed the concert?
- Very much.
- [Shaun Evans] Again he's from a completely different world, that brings with it something interesting and exciting.
- It's fantastic this year, it's very different in the sense that there is a through line that goes through the whole three films.
- He's been reinstated as Detective Chief Inspector, he's back with Win.
Both the children are gone now.
So there's a slight kind of empty nest feel.
- We had a letter from Sam Belfast, he's off to seeing the world.
- [Roger] They both need each other and they both love each other.
- She's making the sandwiches again.
- As the new decades dawns, it's a time for something new within the station as well.
I myself and Strange needs to step up as Bright and Thursday get closer to retirement age.
And I think that brings with it a lot of conflict.
- Not everything's a crossword puzzle.
- If you thought he did it, why didn't you charge him?
- With the team, questioning each other and challenging each other on certain things we are seeing these characters not necessarily drifting apart, but really becoming their own people.
- Mr.
Bright tells me to take a second look.
- Really not afraid to voice their opinions.
You can't be bringing work home, none of us can.
- It's him I know it is.
I can feel it in my corns.
I can crack him.
Do you pursue a line of inquiry because it's a gut feeling is it faith or is it all completely logical, and about intellect?
- Endeavour is cerebral and academic and a lateral thinker - He is happy to go down a certain poetic route, I would say, but then needs facts at the end of the day.
Thursday would have more of a, by any means to get to the truth of the matter.
- They do clash, they're seeing the faults within each other.
- You're obsessing about the wrong man, you've gotta let it drop.
- Who do you think you're talking to?
- You think he's responsible.
We've started to really dig deep into Reginald's past and I'd been wanting that for so long.
Cause I think that's the way this has become something more than just the formulaic crime drama plot of the week, guest of the week.
People are intrigued by these particular characters.
We're starting to see the human beings really, and the failings that are happening, the cracks that are showing up in his work.
- The story of the characters holds your interest as well as the sort of who done it element of the murder mystery - See you tomorrow.
- I think that's one of the things that makes Endeavour special.
