(dramatic string music) - [Driver] Good evening and welcome ladies and gentlemen, come on board.
- Film three all takes place in the heart of winter.
All over the course of one night.
- Is everyone all right?
- I think so.
- And so we've had quite a lot of technical challenges of, how do you create a blizzard whilst we shoot in really glorious sunshine?
- Where you lead, we'll follow.
- The way we achieve deep snow is to put a white sheet over the grass, and then we use a cellulose paper product that gets infused with water.
- [Woman] We're nearly there!
- Paper maché type thing that was blown across the ground, and then there was more of a sort of foam-based snow that they were sticking into the fans which was blowing at us as a blizzard.
- That basically floats around in the air, much like bubbles, and looks very cold and arctic.
- The bus crashes, and we all come to this house for warmth.
- [Director] Action!
- We can go together in a moment, then Ms.
Travis might show us where the generator block is.
- We've been filming, just arriving in this dark, rather creepy place and looking for candles.
- In a spot where a gruesome murder once happened, which he knows a little about.
- So this is where it all happened?
- Where what happened?
- The massacre, the Loomis.
- They can't get out of there, there's no phone line back to the town.
The snow drifts mean that they don't have any hope of escape.
- God, my head.
- And as the episode unpeels, as it were, we find out more about these characters and what they're hiding.
It's got some sort of feelings of thriller aspects to it.
- He's had a terrible shock, Mr.
Big.
- So a lot of this episode is candlelit, embers of a fire, Endeavour searches around with a torch.
It feels Agatha Christie-esque in some ways, particularly with all these strangers thrown together.
(clapperboard clicks) - Oh, I say, well done.
- 'Cause those particular stories are particular tropes, and to do them in a way that's both truthful and interesting has actually been really fun.
And of course it gives you the opportunity to welcome, like, 10 whole new cast members.
Yeah, it's been really fun.
- Oh, Shaun's really lovely and welcoming and hardworking and professional.
- He's an incredible number one on the cast list.
- He's warm.
He's really caring of everybody.
He gees everyone up.
And as an actor, he's lovely to watch.
- Just Morse.
- That's right.
