A Day on Set with Rishi Nair
Season 10
short | 02:55 | CC
Have you ever wondered what a day on the set of Grantchester is like? Rishi Nair gives us a behind-the-scenes look at a day of filming.
(lively music) - All right, let's go.
Follow me to set.
We're in the police station today filming a lot of police interviews.
Some people are getting interrogated.
Got my protein shake, the Vicar of Grantchester Rishi Nair.
Al is directing Block Three who plays Leonard, and he's a brilliant director.
It's always a fun day on set with him.
- It's lovely to see you.
Come on in.
How are we?
- Very good, thank you.
Morning.
Look who it is.
The best thing about this office is.
- Yes!
- This dartboard which I spend many hours on.
So we are shooting a scene in the bullpen.
As you can see, the camera team are setting up the cameras there.
It's episode six here.
Recreated Alfie's office in the police station, clever stuff.
- Can we just try it.
We are doing pickups on this moment when Alfie tears the letter, and we ran out time on the day.
- Yeah, and the art department very cleverly have recreated Alfie's Office here.
(upbeat music) Hello.
- Hello, Rishi.
- How are we?
- We are very well, thank you.
Uh-oh, hello.
- The lovely viewers, this is the legend, Tessa Peake-Jones.
- He has to say that.
I'm paying him.
- Okay, so we are in the police station, and you wouldn't expect this person to be here, but she is.
And I think we've got a few minutes, so we can have a little chat with her.
Hey, Casey.
- Oh hey.
- How are you?
- Hey, I'm good.
- So you are.
- Are you spilling the secrets?
- I am.
- Of the set.
- You are in the police station.
- I am in the police station.
And I know your husband works in the police station.
- Yes, but I only ever deliver sandwiches here.
- I know, so do you wanna tell us what you're doing here?
- Well.
- Because I think you're actually quite involved in the murder case in this episode.
- I am, my first murder case to be involved in.
And I wonder if I'm gonna solve it rather than you solve it.
- Are you a suspect?
- You are a potential suspect.
- I, there's a possibility I'm a suspect.
- It could be you.
- Has it always been thus really?
- Do you wanna tell us why you're here this time?
- I'm not allowed to tell the story, am I?
I can't spoil the plot.
- I think you can give us a little, you know, without spoiling the plot.
- Am I allowed to mention a murder?
I think there's probably gonna be a murder in this episode.
- I think Mrs. C might be connected with a murder.
- Yeah, is Mrs. C potentially a suspect?
- No, she's certainly not a suspect.
Obviously, she could never be a suspect.
- Hmm, I would beg to differ.
(upbeat music) - It's a long shoot, but let's not say anything negative about it 'cause there's nothing negative to say about it.
- There never is.
It's a joy, pure joy.
- It is, every day's a joy.
- It's been a really lovely four and a half month shoot and working with you is always a pleasure.
We still got a bit more filming to do, but yeah, that is a day in the life of me, Rishi Nair, on "Grantchester."
I hope you enjoyed.
