(piano music) - It was the most daunting thing that I've ever done, stepping into a show that I knew was well loved.
I mean it's in its forth series its a testament of how well it's been doing.
I am a massive fan of James Norton.
I watched him when I was in drama school doing Happy Valley and I just knew that his career would go off into the stardom it's become.
It was frightening but everyone embraced me as part of the Grantchester family very quickly.
(snap) It's the happiest set.
It's got a reputation in Britain as being just a wonderful set for every actor to step onto.
I never in my life thought that I would play a vicar, I just never thought I'd wear that costume.
But the minute I put it on, it does, it makes you stand in a certain way and when you're walking around, when you're just walking to set and people look at you in a certain way because it just carries, everyone knows what that symbol means.
So there was a strange sort of sense of responsibility that you were carrying something when you had it on.
And the same with doing the sermons.
It was daunting doing it for the first time and a lot of the background artists are the actual villagers of the real Grantchester.
They were all obviously looking at me as the new guy and going, you know, big boots to fill.
So it was me as the new actor trying to impress and Will as a new vicar trying to impress people.
So it was a fun and exciting but also daunting experience to do my first sermon.
Most of you here are strangers to me, but in time I hope that we can become friends.
