(gentle piano music) (motorcycle engine roars) - Will Davenport arrives on a motorcycle looking fresh-faced and innocent, but he may not be.
And many things are going to stay the same, but many things are going to change.
- Sidney, this is Will Davenport.
- Ah, how do you do?
- Will is a young, energetic, passionate, new priest, who really wants to use his place in the church to bring some good to the village, but he's doing it all because he's driven by a dark past.
- [Sidney] There was a time I would never break a confidence.
- Meeting a man of the law changed that, did it?
- Let's just say Geordie gave me a new perspective.
- Geordie has to work quite hard to get Will on his side, but then once Will discovers that he's pretty good at it, yeah he embraces it quite quickly.
- People feel they can tell you things.
- Of course.
- Secrets.
- Absolutely.
- Confessions.
- The most intimate things you wouldn't believe.
- Doing our first scene opposite Robson Green, from the moment I met him, he was like a friend I'd had for years.
- Vroom.
- Slow down.
- You're going too fast.
- Vroom.
- He made every day a joy to go in to it.
I hope the viewers love Will as much as they love Sidney and I hope they accept him into the village more than the villagers do.
- Tough crowd, eh?
- I love you Geordie.
- I know.
- Should we sing?
- Absolutely not.
