Where We Left Off and What's Ahead
Season 5
short | 02:56 | CC
The cast remind us where we left off in Season 4, and tease plenty of mystery, drama and more to come this season!
(dynamic music) - Last season you leave Will having just lost his father, having to try and give his mother a new home.
- You have responsibilities now you're the man of the house.
- I have responsibilities in Grantchester too.
So he's gotten much more on his plate.
He's gotta try and sort out his own family, and still remain a good friend to Geordie, and a good son to his mother, and a good vicar.
- Mrs.
C was very happy with the marriage to Mr.
Chapman.
She had gone through quite testing times with Leonard in terms of discovering that he was gay.
The Archdeacon rang to arrange... - She caught him kissing Daniel in the kitchen.
And then she's banished Daniel from the house.
- That man is never to come here again.
- His name is Daniel.
- There was a compromise which was, I'll come back to work and that's fine, but I don't want to ever be reminded of that side of your life, Leonard.
- He lost a lot of his family, he lost Mrs.
C, he lost Sidney, and his world was kind of crumbling.
But the end it was very helpful that, okay, we're in a new chapter now, let's move forward and see what the world gives us.
Things can't carry on as they were.
- Maybe not, they don't have change entirely either.
Come home, Leonard.
Please.
(motor revving) - So the beginning of season five, Cathy's still working at Swinnertons.
You are looking at Swinnertons newest shop steward for ladies wear.
- She's now found a job, she's now gonna be able to pay her way.
Which is very embarrassing for the bread winner, which he perceives himself to be.
But in order for the relationship to survive he has to support her.
Have a good day.
- They've kind of worked out both of them being out at work and having younger children.
But they are struggling.
And so they get help from her mother.
- It's the calvary.
- Cathy knows there's something very very dark in her mother's history.
That manifests itself through the series.
(upbeat music) - Life seems to have be settled at the vicarage again, and Will has now settled in very nicely, the new vicar.
- We do find him well and truly in the parish.
He has got more people coming to his sermons than ever and people are starting to look to Will for help and guidance.
And I think he's really enjoying his place in the parish.
- [Robson] At the start of series five is a murder at the college.
And we go in and investigate it.
- With not one but two banners of the patriarchy in attendance I'm sure we'll soon get to the bottom of this.
- This is why I need you here.
Feel free to translate.
Will knows that world, he knows that privileged world.
I need him as my device in order to solve the crime.
And they're off and running.
Two crimes solved in one day, we'll be in the pub by lunchtime.
