Returning Characters: Ivy and Moses
Season 2
short | 02:59 | CC
Actress Cathy Belton (Ivy) and actor Ansu Kabia (Moses) talk about returning for Season 2 and what their characters are up to.
(upbeat music) - It's one thing working on your own.
To be in charge of a group of men.
- Why shouldn't a woman be in charge?
We have a woman on the throne.
- Not when I was a girl, we didn't.
- Something really exciting is happening with Ivy.
Eliza has given her the pen to educate her.
- I know you to be capable and although I'd sleep easier had you taken a different path, I'm still very proud of what you have achieved.
- [Cathy] I love her fieriness, she won't compromise for anybody.
- How much longer is this going to take?
- It will take as long as it takes.
Now stand still.
- What surprised me about the fans reaction to Series 1 was their curiosity about Ivy's life outside of her world or who's her lover.
- I've shopping to do.
- But the market's that way.
- I'm going to Pettifers and Handwell street.
- Buying a new hat?
Ah, let me guess, does this have anything to do with a certain Barnabus?
- I don't have time for this.
- What happens if her situation changes, what happens if she decides to meet somebody.
- He said he liked your new hat.
- Did he?
- Huh!
So you did see him today!
- But what I find even more exciting to play as an actress is the contradictions in her, that have become awakened.
- You sure you weren't followed?
- [Cathy] It's almost like the little Eliza in her slowly rebelling as well.
- Why do the people always ask me that?
- I think my favorite thing about playing Moses, actually, is how in the shutters he lives.
- How do you find these things out?
- I'm a man of many talents.
- You're a man with a talent for avoiding questions.
- He is completely self possessed.
Knows who he is, confident about who he is.
- I'm looking for a man about a job.
The kind that can make you serious money.
- He's a survivor, somebody who can work his way through any situation, is confident that he can.
He doesn't need to be a criminal, even though he may have good contacts with that world, but he's still getting arrested, pushed around.
- I do not like to be man handled.
- Best part of my day, arresting you.
- Moses and Duke have a complicated relationship with each other.
- Duke, there's been a sighting, the Jamaican.
Do you want me to bring him in?
- No, he's mine.
- Moses would try to avoid Duke as much as possible, and Duke would try to catch Moses if he can.
Which he can't.
- If Moses so much as sneezes, we will we down on him like a ton of bricks.
- What makes you think Moses knows anything?
- Those two are as thick as thieves.
- But we have a mutual love and respect for Eliza.
So, that's what brings us together.
- Well, I'd like to say it was a pleasure doing business with you, but you know I'd be lying.
I'll be watching you.
- I'd expect nothing less, Inspector.
