- It was probably the hardest thing I have ever done.
I think it's the hardest role I've played.
- It's a huge responsibility for Ruth.
- There's so many things at play, so many pressures, the pressure of the family, the pressure of whether you're performing her in the right way.
There were those moments I had out of body experiences where I was feeling incredibly emotional about what my grandmother must have gone through.
There were moments when I had to, like, give birth to my dad, which is just bizarre.
(laughs) Totally mad.
It was a very odd experience.
It was kind of part huge pressure and responsibility and fear.
It was all a lie, everything Alec told me.
But also, I felt inhabited weirdly by her.
- It's so brave to to lay your family's story out on a platform like this, and it just is, it's so generous of all of them.
- It was the hardest thing I've done, the most stressful thing I've done, but was so... Every day, the clapperboard going Mrs.
Wilson on it, and I knew that I was sort of serving her story.
I'm very proud of creating it and putting it on and getting it done.
