- I am wearing a slip.
- Do you wear that every day?
- Yeah I have to, I don't want to.
- [Sam] Why do you wear it every day?
- Because otherwise you'd see my bra.
- Okay.
- Yep.
(energetic funk music) - The '70s I think, was fantastic for men.
Graphic shape, tight, narrow, high-waisted flares and we've found so many original suits.
- All the clothes are tight.
There's no stretching in old clothes, right.
- [Tommy] I think every bloke on this has split their trousers.
I mean that, but you couldn't go any higher.
(laughter) - Oh yeah, yeah.
- I mean if you were to kick someone, Chuck Norris style.
- But you can't lift the legs up, can ya'?
- No, you can't at all.
- [Amy] This is our costume trunk.
Everybody's costumes are held in here.
We have Jane Tennison, obviously her uniforms, civilian stuff, and Kath, bits of Mrs.
Tennison.
We've got our CID boys here, then we move to the Bentley boys.
I love this one.
Lovely Larry little... It's a keyhole pattern.
So you've got one end of the scale, Bradfield: there's nothing show-ey off-ey about him, it's a gray suit, modest-colored ties, and of sensible mac.
- [Sam] You know, he has no real interest in fashion.
This is probably his most colorful tie.
It's got a bit of purple on it.
- Probably to the other end of the scale is Gibbs, who's much more edgy, and has this other life of being in a band.
- Bloody hell.
(whistles) Look at the state of that!
- [Blake] Gibbs' attire when he's like leader of a band, he's got this kind of like, kind of frilly thing, button down to there.
- [Stefanie] I am wearing every shade of brown you can possibly imagine.
Yeah, I'm wearing a beautiful suede skirt, with like a lovely polyester shirt, and sweater vest.
- [Amy] Jane's impetus is work, all quite neat and tidy.
A bit like a uniform, really.
- [Amy] We take, these all ought to have continuity photographs.
We need to take these because they'll shoot one scene out of a story day, and then because of locations, say, you're shooting outside their flat, on one day, and then, maybe a month later, we'll shoot inside the flat.
So we need to make sure we know exactly what she was wearing.
Because you get that wrong, they can't edit it together.
- [Stefanie] This is one of her, kind of, more somber outfits.
At her sister's wedding she wears a hilarious, huge, pink bridesmaid's dress.
- [Gibbs] Nice dress.
You drop your glass slipper on the way in?
- Very funny, Sarge.
(laughter)
