♪ Hello [slate closes] BITE: Now ready, steady, go!
[child squeals with delight] BITE: The Child in Time is a story about a couple with a small child and they've got a very lovely life.
And then that all changes in an instant.
BITE: Stephen where is she?
STEPHEN: She was just there she was right there [gasp] JULIE: What do you mean?
STEPHEN: I don't know.
JULIE: What do you mean?!
Where is she?
Where is she now!?
REBECCA: To get a chance to do an adaptation of an Ian McEwan book is like discovering treasure.
He's able to go very deep into our consciousness our imagination and know what it feels like when you're in crisis.
BENEDICT: I think it's a very rich story which will touch a lot of people.
The more you live with it, the more richeness there is to the subtext that only just comes to the surface in the writing.
KELLY: I read the script and I found it incredibly moving.
I kind of couldn't wait to explore all of Julie's scenes.
Visually the thing that I really loved was being in the aquarium.
Standing in front of that glass.
We're not looking at each other and I thought that was very beautiful.
JULIE: How certain are you that she's alive?
STEPHEN: I know that if she wasn't, I'd feel it.
JULIE: I think she may have to be the one to find us.
DAVID: Anyone who's lost someone they love or care about will be touched by this script.
STEPHEN'S MOM: Kate must be somewhere but you have to keep on loving her.
It will find her.
KELLY: It is really a character study.
When you've got incredibly talented people around you and an amazing script, I think we all felt very priveledged to be there.
[child laughing] I'm just incredibly proud of it.
It's a very beautiful thing.
