(Greek bouzouki music) - Series 1 was really about the Durrell family deciding to leave Bournemouth and going to Corfu, and the initial problems that they face there.
So, we were introducing not only the Durrells, but the motor that was propelling them.
- The Durrells ended up in Corfu because they were living in Bournemouth.
Louisa's widowed, she had four unruly children: Larry who was the most rubbish estate agent, Leslie who was just gun-obsessed, Margo who was an airhead, and Gerry who really didn't like school and preferred to study the rats behind the schoolhouse.
- They can't stand themselves in England, so they decide to go somewhere else, maybe to find a paradise.
- We saw them arriving in Greece, and trying to create a life, we saw them meeting the locals, and struggling to get by.
- There was a lot of getting used to the new surroundings, adapting to their new lives.
- When they arrived in Corfu, they were quite shocked at how, sort of, it was very different to England, and how everything was just a bit wilder.
Series 1 was sort of followed their journey, as Gerald Durrell documented in "My Family and Other Animals."
