(Greek music) - Well, the money's run out coming from England.
They've sold their furniture and most of it went to debt.
So Louisa realizes at the beginning of Series 2 that she can't rely on the kindness of strangers, and they have to generate their own income.
- Mrs.
Durrell hits on the idea of of going to market with some of their homemade goods and introducing the locals to English food.
- I think there's a lot of times when the Greek locals are slightly perplexed by the names of these things like Toad in the Hole and Spotted Dick, especially was one they're very confused by.
- [Simon] The Greeks do see somebody trying to make a life for themselves.
- There's lots of funny sort of explaining to people, especially Lugaretzia as well.
- She just does not get the English food at all so there's some really funny scenes where we're tying to explain what the food actually is rather than what it sounds like.
- When they get a place in the market, they're given the rotten end of it because the good places are taken up and also because they're English, they don't really understand how to ask for a good spot and they don't really work out too quickly that a good spot is one without direct sunlight and without this extraordinary heat of the day and Spiros again thankfully comes to the rescue and says it's all about location.
Mrs.
Durrell here, you've got to move to the right spot.
