- Ah, the babies, working with babies on set.
- It's genuinely great to work with the children.
I'm laughing because it's not always seamless to work with the children.
- We've now just finished Season 2 where we have three children and number four is on the way, two dogs, a parrot, and a Shetland pony, and trying to film a scene with all of those components is something I've never experienced before in my life.
- When we're working with a lot of children and a lot of animals, it all just gets a bit chaotic and the little girl who played Vicky was just really hilarious.
She was a little Liverpudlian girl and she was just so chatty and funny all the time and she was very forthcoming about when she'd had enough, so when she was done for the day, which we're all kind of thinking sometimes after a long day of filming.
We're like, "Quite like to go home now."
And she would just say it.
She was kind of the mouthpiece for all the grown-ups in a way.
She'd kind of be like, "I'm done now."
- We have many a Victorian toy so certain children have their certain favorite toy.
You might notice Bertie is always on a rocking horse in almost every scene because it was a way to make him stay in the scene.
- So it brings a real vitality and a real energy.
It means that filming is not quite as linear or as seamless or as focused as it may be in other capacities but I think the show needs that energy.
We as artists need that energy.
It's good to feed off.
The kids that we have had as the children have got older through the series, have been quite incredible actually.
- We've really got to know them so you can really feel the household is becoming fuller and the family are all coming together which is really lovely.
- It was a big part of Victoria and Albert's life, nine children.
That's a commitment to being a parent.
The show is better off for having the kids in it, I think.
