Dash: A Tribute
Season 2
short | 02:15 | CC
The Victoria cast fondly remembers Dash, the Queen's canine companion.
(dog barking) - Dash is as much of a character in Victoria as any of the human characters are.
(barking) Tori is the dog who plays Dash.
- Tori's career first began when she played Dash with Emily Blunt in The Young Victoria so it's very fitting that this is her retiring role now and she will end her career playing Dash in our version of Victoria.
I really do adore doing scenes actually when Dash is there.
It's something about Victoria feels very complete.
- Dogs are man's best friend.
I think Dash is sort of Victoria's friend, particularly when you are in a position of power like Victoria is.
It's difficult to know who to trust and whether to trust your instincts or not and in a way Dash is kind of her sounding board quite a lot.
It's so sweet in the scenes where Victoria's kind of talking aloud to Dash and organizing her thoughts that way.
- I'm not going to ask him.
Yes he would know.
But I'm not going to ask him.
(barking) - There's two schools of thought here: - One is you know Tori's been great and Dash is very important in Victoria's life and I'm sad to see her go.
The one benefit of that is that we got Ila in, who is played by Prince who I got to meet from when he was about that big.
And so I feel like Prince's sort of a father in many ways.
So on a personal level I'm devastated Tori's gone but come on.
Prince is like golden.
He lived in my coat for a little bit.
Every cloud has a silver lining and Prince is my new heartthrob.
I'm so sorry.
(sobbing) - Victoria lays Dash to rest.
I think it is a very severe loss for her.
I think she grew up with Dash and with Lehzen being the only people that she could trust and literally being her best friend and the epitaph that we read at the end of the episode is actually what Victoria wrote about Dash which we were able to use and I think it tells you everything that you need to know about their relationship.
His attachment was without selfishness.
His playfulness without malice.
His fidelity without deceit.
Reader if you would live beloved and die regretted, profit by example of Dash.
