(slow piano music) - After everything Skerrett and Francatelli have been through, Skerrett finds out she's pregnant.
- I make two kinds of tonic for women in your condition.
- Then, Skerrett is sadly sold a pregnancy tonic, which contains contaminated water, which unfortunately means that Skerrett contracts cholera.
And you don't survive cholera.
So we see Skerrett die from this very horrible ugly disease.
Which means we lose Skerrett and we lose the baby as well.
- Good Health.
- [All] To good health.
- If you will excuse me for just a moment.
I sobbed reading that episode; I cried my eyes out.
As in, I knew what was going to happen, I'd been told by the writers.
We'd had a conversation about it.
Then I was excited for such a sort of, dramatic ending to Skerrett's storyline.
It's just done so beautifully, and tenderly, that yeah, it's really very moving.
Very sad finishing a job that has been a huge part of your life for so long.
I've absolutely loved playing Skerrett.
- Perhaps a pendant braid around each ear.
It's a style that suits a face like yours.
It is very au courant at the moment.
- Miss Skerrett has not done your hair before.
She might not do it to your liking.
- Well, if she does my hair half as well as she has done her own, I will be quite satisfied.
- Doing a show for three years has kind of punctuated my own life, so when I sort of think back on memories in my life and go, oh yeah, 'cause that's when I was filming series one, that's when I was in series two.
And it really, kind of bleeds into everything you do, and it becomes part of who you are.
I certainly have internalized Skerrett, definitely, and she's like second nature to me now.
And I will miss everyone greatly.
I mean, I see everyone a lot, it's funny, 'cause we've made such good friends, and we hang out all the time.
But, getting to go to work everyday with a bunch of people who became such good friends was just so much fun, and I felt so lucky to do that everyday, so of course I'll miss it.
I'll miss it a lot.
