(slow thoughtful music) - [Man] And action.
- When we were shooting Wolf Hall, in the height of summer and unusually for England, it was a really warm summer.
- They were going through an ice age at that time so they were wearing furs and many layers of clothes.
And then we would be in a small room without the ability to have air conditioning or even fans in the room and there'd be quite a number of fires burning.
It was difficult to work in such hot conditions.
- We were shooting at a castle in Oxfordshire and it has a moat, as all good castles do, and at one point the owner of the castle said, "Well, you could, if you want swim in the moat.
"We do."
And there was a stampede.
Everybody took off their heavy furs and costumes and dived in.
You know, I think that day, swimming in the moat in the sun is one we'll all treasure.
- [Woman] And action.
- We still always have a very good time filming it.
And I think it's important to get that slight element of humor in a piece, even one as serious as this.
- Mark is just such a wonderful person to work with.
I've learned so much from him.
When we're sat around set, he's so fun.
He has a game called Pucket.
- It's a very, very fast game with a rubber band and little pieces, Pucket.
- It's like the best game ever.
- Particularly, my son had got so good that when we were down at Dover Castle, it was a very rainy day, we had a long time in the room, we had a proper old Wimbledon five-setter.
- We've had some serious matches on set.
- Up in the ranks really of Borg and McEnroe and that kind of competition and the little turkey got me in the end, but I was right with him all the way.
- It's been great fun.
