Further Casting Revealed for New Season
Boston, MA; August 27, 2026: MASTERPIECE PBS has unveiled first-look images and announced further casting for the upcoming seventh season of the treasured series All Creatures Great and Small, ahead of its return on January 17, 2027 at 9/8c. Season 7 will be available to stream on the PBS app and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video and will broadcast on PBS.
All Creatures Great and Small Season 7 returns viewers to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales in 1946. With the war finally over, Skeldale House is full once again and livelier than ever as our beloved characters reunite under one roof and look ahead to a hopeful new chapter. James is excited about new developments in veterinary medicine, but a new vet in the area threatens the status quo. The world at large may be changing, but inside this slice of Yorkshire, the Dales will always offer the same perfect escapism. Packed with warmth, humour and community spirit, the season brings more heartwarming tales of people and animals alike.
A host of familiar faces return to Darrowby for the new season, including Nicholas Ralph as James Herriot, Samuel West as Siegfried Farnon, Anna Madeley as Mrs Hall, Rachel Shenton as Helen Herriot and Callum Woodhouse as Tristan Farnon.
Also reprising their roles are Patricia Hodge as Mrs Pumphrey, alongside her cherished Pekingese Tricki, Tony Pitts as Helen’s father Richard and Imogen Clawson as her sister Jenny. Maimie McCoy returns as Dorothy, Gaia Wise as Charlotte and Mollie Winnard as Maggie.
Joining the cast and shaking things up is Caolan McCarthy (Belfast) as newly arrived rival vet Granville Bennett. He will be joined by a host of new characters who help bring more of Herriot’s much-loved stories to life.
The series, based on James Herriot’s cherished books, is produced by BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning company Playground (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, The Hardacres, The Undeclared War) and MASTERPIECE on PBS, in association with global partner All3Media International.
The new season is brought to the screen by a talented team of writers including Neil Jones (Episodes 1 and 6), Debbie O’Malley (Episodes 2, 4 and 7), Maxine Alderton (Episode 3) and Kelie Smith (Episode 5). Directing duties are shared by Brian Percival (Episodes 1 and 2), Jennie Paddon (Episodes 3 and 5) and Andy Hay (Episodes 5, 6 and the Christmas Special). Yvonne Francas returns as Producer.
Season 7 was announced as part of a double season commission with Season 8 in November 2025.
Seasons 1–6 are currently available to stream on the PBS app and PBS Masterpiece on Prime Video.
