Rachel Shenton on Her Hopes for Season 7
When MASTERPIECE interviewed Rachel Shenton in December, 2025, she shared that, “I haven't read or heard anything, and I don't know if this will come to fruition, but I'd love for Helen and James to have fun again, because I think it's been so serious for such a long time for them because they've been through [the war]. It's been so serious for everyone, and even in [Episode 6] where we know it's the end of the war, we see what a huge impact it's had on Tristan's story, but also what a huge impact it’s had on everyone. The lads are returning to the farms, but it's not quite the same; the men are home, but they're not quite the same, and obviously we saw with lovely Maggie, her husband didn't return.
“So we very much still feel that, and we should, but I would also like to think that for the first time, we can dare to be hopeful, and that this is a chance where James and Helen are back together now with two little children, and we can have a different type of fun. No, they're not stealing kisses and sneaking off like we've seen before—there's no time for that—but it's a mature type of fun. It's them being a team, which is what they do so well...So I'd like to see a bit more of that, and a bit more laughter for them. And I wish that for everyone in the Skeldale family and the wider family.”
Callum Woodhouse on His Hopes for Season 7
In a Season 6 interview with MASTERPIECE, Callum Woodhouse shared that in addition to having a beard, his Season 7 hopes for Tristan include “the continued relationship with Charlotte—that’s definitely the big one. He never really had a love interest that lasted longer than a season or a couple of episodes, and I think that's initially what Charlotte was meant to be—I think…towards the end of Season 6, they would kind of organically break up. And I remember emailing the producers and saying, 'Please, can Charlotte stick around? Because I think this is a really, really important relationship.' And they listened, and she's coming back for next season. So as well as me just wanting to carry on acting with Gaia [Wise], I think it's a really important thing for Tristan.
“And I would love many, many, many more scenes with Sam [West, Siegfried]. The Tristan and Siegfried scenes from the show, without a doubt, are always my favorite to read, play, and then watch back. There's nothing I love more from this show than their relationship and the journey that it's gone on over the six seasons that we've done so far. So I would just love them to carry on bickering like an old married couple, and then to have this heartfelt moment where they give each other a hug. I just think it's so beautiful. I really love it.
“And in the same vein of his and Siegfried’s relationship, and his relationship with Charlotte continuing, I would like for Tristan to find his way back. [He told Charlotte] “I'm not the same chap that I was and I'm not sure I'll ever be the same chap that I was,” and I'm not necessarily saying that I want him to be that same chap, but I would like him to find a level of contentment and happiness, and where he is not so plagued and dogged by these harrowing experiences that he's been through. He's sort of unalterably changed by them, but in a way that it's not going to dictate his life anymore.”
