Mr Bates vs The Post Office

We’re willing to bet you’ve heard about the real-life British Post Office scandal that was dramatized on UK television, setting off a firestorm of public outrage that forced Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to act. “How has a TV show achieved in one week more than investigative journalists and politicians [have] in more than a decade?” asks The New York Times. You’ll have to watch to find out!

The miniseries follows one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in British legal history. But the issue was actually caused by errors in the Post Office’s own computer system—something it denied for years.
