The Cast on the Final Season of Grantchester

Before tuning in for the Grantchester Season 11 premiere on Sunday, June 14 at 9/8c on MASTERPIECE on PBS, learn more about what's ahead in the final eight episodes of the beloved, cozy mystery series, thanks to some enticing teasers from the cast about where we left off, where we pick up this season, and what's in store. [Contains spoilers for Grantchester Season 10.]
Where We Pick Up
More murder and more mysteries are always a given in the town of Grantchester, but what else could be in store for our favorite characters in Season 11? Robson Green (Geordie) and Rishi Nair (Alphy) shed some light on where we find everyone at the start of the final season.
Robson Green (Geordie): "Everybody's happy. Geordie and Cathy have got this understanding with each other's outlook on life. Leonard and Daniel, they're doing well. They're very much in love. Alphy, still in the pursuit of happiness, but he's okay. Mrs. C and Jack, they're doing well. But throughout the series, each of those relationships are jeopardized... Everything isn't as it seems on the surface."
Rishi Nair (Alphy): "We left [Alphy] at the end of Season 10 knocking on his mother's door. He obviously found the letter, found her address, and decided, 'I actually want to go and see my mother.' When we pick up in Season 11, time has passed. He's met up with his mother a few times. Things are going really well... And then it all goes a bit pear shaped."
The Crime-Solvers: Alphy & Geordie
When it comes to the crime-solving duo at the heart of the story, Green and Nair also teased that it may not be all smooth-sailing ahead for the pair.
Rishi Nair (Alphy): "Alphy and Geordie's relationship is central to the story. It's a really lovely relationship between two men that are really best friends. That relationship is tested the season. We see Alphy's going through a lot with his mother, with his faith, with his relationship with Meg. Everything is on the rocks. He doesn't really know where he is and he's losing himself. And like everyone in life, when things are coming wrong, the person that bears the brunt of it are the people you love the most and people that are closest to you. Geordie is his person and Geordie bears the brunt of that."
Robson Green (Geordie): "[Geordie's] trying to help Alphy throughout Season 11 to find himself, find his identity, find his sense of belonging. But the most important thing for Alphy is his sense of family and what is family. It doesn't have to be bloodline. It can be your best friend."

The CeCe's Dream Team: Mrs. C. & Cathy
Meanwhile, Tessa Peake Jones (Mrs. C.) and Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy) shared that their characters have been busy keeping CeCe's doors open, while still occasionally (lovingly) butting heads. But can their business truly thrive without some extra hands?
Tessa Peake-Jones (Mrs. C.): "Mrs. C.'s really happy. She's got a successful business with Cathy, CeCe's, and it's doing so well. They've appointed an accountant to help with the money side of things. Artistically, I think Cathy runs CeCe's. Financially, keeping everything in order, the books, Mrs. C. definitely runs the show."
Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy): "Cathy is busy running CeCe's and loving it, enjoying the fashion and the change of fashion. We're now in 1963, there's a lot happening. The swinging 60s have really started to begin.
"I think because [Cathy and Mrs. C.] had this buildup of their relationship over the years, and obviously Mrs. C. can give Cathy a look that could curdle milk — Cathy's quite used to Mrs. C.'s ways and they've rubbed along rather well. But there's some kind of confusion about who really runs CeCe's and what CeCe's is about. And like in any good partnership, marriage or whatever it is, there's always that moment where you like the telephone placed this way and she'll come along and move it that way and then you come back and move it back again."

Full Circle with Leonard
Over the years, Leonard has fought to find purpose outside of the Church while also trying to find peace within himself. In Season 11, however, he's found himself drawn back to an old hope, again — finding a way to be part of the Church once again, without losing the pieces of himself he's gained, according to Al Weaver.
Al Weaver (Leonard): "In Season 11, he's running a halfway house, he's happy with Daniel. Daniel's photography career is going well. He's also spending a lot of time at the vicarage. He's feeling this need to be part of the church again in some sort of manner. He's missing his God. I would say that's his big thing. He wants to feel like he's doing things for God. So that becomes his mission... I think he's had enough time away to now feel like he wants to serve God in some capacity. That has always been his calling."

The Newlyweds: Larry & Miss Scott (AKA Mrs. Peters)
Season 10 ended on a high note for the two lovebirds of the Grantchester police station — Larry and Miss Scott finally (albeit semi-secretly) tied the knot, making Miss Scott now Mrs. Peters whenever they're not at work. But what will that relationship look like going forward? Actors Melissa Johns (Miss Scott) and Bradley Hall (Larry) teased some of what's ahead for the newlyweds.
Melissa Johns (Miss Scott): "Larry and Miss Scott are married. At the start of last season, they were sort of all over each other, being found left, right and center doing this, that and the other in places that they shouldn't be. But at start of this season, they are a married couple and are taking that a bit more seriously. I think what's really lovely is, as a couple, they've really embedded themselves into the family life of Grantchester — meeting up with Leonard and Daniel and going on double dates and being at the drive-in movies with the rest of the gang, which is really nice. They feel like since they've become one unit, they are a more sort of official part of the family."
Bradley Hall (Larry): "[Larry] is definitely respected, I think, in this season. A really good storyline they've gone for this series is the development of this sort double date thing that Miss Scott is forcing Larry to do with Leonard and Daniel, which is such a stark contrast from where we were in Season 6, where Larry's interviewing both and questioning them both about being homosexuals. That is so far removed from where we are in Season 11. It's surreal and it's brilliant that we get to play that."
