Dear Friends,
For over 50 years, NOVA has been telling stories of science that bring you – our viewers – along with us on incredible journeys to experience the awe and wonder of our universe. Together, we’ve ventured into the quantum realm, excavated ancient cities, and explored the farthest reaches of outer space.
We've done all this and more without spin or hype — because public media makes that possible.
Today, NOVA reaches over 55 million Americans a year, and teachers across the country rely on us to inspire their students with the awesome power of scientific discovery.
In a time of great division, we are proud to reach a politically balanced audience, uniting people across the political spectrum through a shared love of science. We work hard to keep earning that broad trust, and this commitment informs every decision we make.
But today, our mission is under threat. President Trump signed an executive order on May 1 directing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to stop funding PBS and NPR.
As executive producers of NOVA, we know firsthand how vital public funding is to our ability to tell stories that inform, inspire, and unite. When you tell your representatives to support public media, you’re not just protecting a show. You’re protecting all Americans’ ability to understand how science works and feel connected to it.
If NOVA has ever sparked your curiosity, expanded your horizons, or inspired a young person you know to dream of becoming a scientist — now is the time to speak up.
Tell Congress: Public media matters.
Science is for everyone. The stories we tell are too.
With gratitude for your viewership and support,
Julia Cort and Chris Schmidt
