Engage your community with the creativity and innovation of engineering with these free NOVA resources for Building Stuff, NOVA's three-part series that explores how engineers are supercharging our abilities, reaching beyond our horizons, and altering our environment. Explore youth engineering activities in the Building Stuff Outreach Toolkit!
Engineering is for everyone! Host a Building Stuff watch party with students, an engineering group, or a makerspace to get your group fired up about the engineering process. The Building Stuff outreach toolkit has everything you need to plan and execute a watch party, as well as three engineering activities that highlight concepts of the engineering process from each film!
Each engineering activity in the toolkit is inspired from an engineering concept described in an episode of Building Stuff. The kits are designed for use with middle or high school students and the quantity of supplies in the instructions are designed for a group of 1 to 4 students, so be sure to scale up to your specific needs.
Building Stuff Virtual Field Trips!
Virtual field trips are livestreamed events hosted on Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook that feature scientists sharing presentations, science demonstrations, and tours of research sites. We hosted two virtual field trips featuring engineers from the Building Stuff series:
