NOVA Science Studio 2023-2024 Program Registration
The NOVA Science Studio (NSS) offers high school students the opportunity to learn science reporting and short-form video production skills. Registration is now open to participate in the program this fall.

Engage your students with science journalism about stories in their communities with the NOVA Science Studio program this school year!
The NOVA Science Studio (NSS) is NOVA’s youth program created to teach science journalism to high school students aged 14-18. In the program, educators guide students through a Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core aligned curriculum with lessons and activities on science journalism, video production, and digital media literacy in a 6-8 month program. Educators can access the NOVA Science Studio curriculum on PBS LearningMedia.
The NSS program culminates in a student-produced, short-form video between 3-5 minutes in length, in response to a prompt about reporting on a local science issue. NOVA provides video production templates, resources, and guidelines for student videos. At the end of the program, educators can choose to submit student-produced videos to NOVA for potential publishing on the NSS YouTube channel. In last year’s program, participating students in Michigan and Virginia published videos on local climate change impacts. Watch videos from the 2022-2023 NSS program HERE.
Registration for the 2023-2024 NOVA Science Studio program is now open to educators who teach high school students aged 14-18 in a formal K-12 school or youth program. Each application must be completed by the educator who will work with students as well as an administrator of the school or youth program. The deadline for registration is rolling through October 2023.
