NOVA Science Studio Alumni (2022-2023)
Meet the 2022—2023 NOVA Science Studio student-producers who covered a wide variety of science stories including invasive species and sea level rise, as well as how farm to table restaurants may reduce carbon emissions.

In January 2023, NOVA launched the NOVA Science Studio on a national scale with two PBS stations—WHRO in Norfolk, Virginia, and WKAR in East Lansing, Michigan—to teach the next generation of science communicators how to produce short-form science videos about the impact of climate change in their communities.
Each station worked with local schools: WKAR partnered with Davison High School, Ovid-Elsie High School, and J.W. Sexton High School. WHRO worked with Granby High School and The Governor’s School for the Arts. The NOVA Science Studio is supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting as part of NOVA’s Climate Across America initiative.
Over the course of six months, students developed basic journalism and video production skills using accessible video production equipment, such as smartphones, and collaborated in teams on short digital videos about stories at the intersection of science and social issues.
We are excited to introduce the 2022—2023 NOVA Science Studio student producers who covered a wide variety of science stories about local impacts of climate change and solutions to adapt to or mitigate the impacts.
