Secrets in Your Data Outreach Toolkit and Events
The Secrets in Your Data Outreach Toolkit is designed to help schools, nonprofits, community groups, government organizations, and student groups plan and facilitate Secrets in Your Data events and community discussions to inform and empower participants with a greater understanding of what happens to our personal data online.

Use this toolkit to organize community screenings that educate the public about how their personal data can be used online, and provide a space to discuss impacts to your community, and steps to take back control of their data.
We share personal data all the time, and companies and data brokers have made a big business out of tracking and selling information. However, big data can also be used to glean vital information that can be used for the benefit of everyone. The Secrets in Your Data Outreach Toolkit is designed to help schools, nonprofits, community groups, government organizations, and student groups plan and facilitate Secrets in Your Data events and community discussions to inform and empower participants with a greater understanding of what happens to our personal data online.
Use this toolkit to organize community screenings that educate the public about how their personal data is shared online (often without their knowledge), how it is used both to our detriment and to our benefit, and how citizens and communities can take steps to maintain their privacy online and move toward a less exploitative data future.
