Marcelo Gleiser

    Marcelo Gleiser is the Appleton Professor of Natural Philosophy and Professor Physics and Astronomy at Dartmouth College. Gleiser received a Presidential Faculty Fellows Award, given by the White House and the National Science Foundation, for his research in cosmology and dedication to teaching. A Fellow and General Councilor of the American Physical Society, his research focuses mainly on the physics of the early universe and the emergence of complex structures in Nature, including life. In addition to The Island of Knowledge, he is the author of three previous books, The Dancing Universe, The Prophet and the Astronomer, and A Tear at the Edge of Creation, Gleiser lives in Hanover, New Hampshire.
