(Gr. 6) Objective
To analyze objects to determine possible uses and to write an
archaeologist's report on the uses and significance of two items.
Materials
Procedure
Have students view the Stone Age Toolkit interactive and discuss how
archeologists came up with the uses for the items included.
Tell students they will become archeologists in the 24th century.
Provide students with the Archeologist's Report handout that lists
common objects from the ancient civilization of North America in
2006, and have them choose two items and write a report on the uses
and significance of those items. Some of the uses should be correct
(or nearly correct) and some should be wrong.
Assessment
Students will be evaluated on their written work based on the
plausibility of their answers and for creativity.
Classroom Tips
I am going to display the Stone Age Toolkit Web page using an LCD
projector.
