Shoulder
Artificial shoulders have two parts: One replaces the ball
atop the humerus or upper arm bone, and the other serves for
the shoulder socket, which is part of the scapula or shoulder
blade. The humeral portion is made of metal, while the
artificial socket consists of a metal tray attached to the
bone and a plastic cup that functions as the bearing surface.
