23 persons die in torrential rains at Coast Province in October. Seven additional deaths are reported in other towns. Mombassa receives 761 millimeters of rain in the first 20 days of October; normal rainfall for the entire month of October is 97 millimeteres. Hundreds are left stranded by the washing away of the bridge at Marere in Kwale.
