Streptomyces bacteria
Streptomycetes (genus Streptomyces) are soil bacteria
essential to the decomposition of organic matter. Highly prolific
synthesizers of antibiotics, they supply over half of the world's
current varieties, including important cancer-fighting drugs such as
Actinomycin-D and Bleomycin.
